Christ First, Technology Second

Christ the King and Technology as Our Friend

Article:

Dear Beloved Congregation,

In this era of rapid technological advancement, we are reminded of the unchanging truth that Christ is King, reigning over all creation. As we navigate the complexities of modern life, including the remarkable innovations in technology, we must recognize that these developments are not separate from our faith, but rather a part of God's grand design. Through wisdom and understanding, we are called to integrate these advancements into our lives, always with Christ at the center.

Christ’s Sovereignty Over All Things

The Scriptures declare that Christ’s authority extends over all things, both seen and unseen:

"He is before all things, and in Him all things hold together." — Colossians 1:17

This includes the tools and technologies that we create. When used with a heart aligned with Christ, technology becomes a reflection of His divine order. Just as the early church utilized the written word to spread the gospel, we now have tools like artificial intelligence, data centers, and global communication networks to further the mission of Christ in new and exciting ways.

Technology as a Gift From God

Throughout history, human ingenuity has been a gift from God. It is through our God-given talents and creativity that we have been able to develop the means to improve life, alleviate suffering, and share knowledge. As St. Augustine reminds us:

“God has made us with a capacity to learn and to understand, for this is part of our being created in His image.”

Technology is no different. It can be a powerful force for good when it is used to serve humanity, align with Christian values, and uphold the dignity of life. Just as Christ is King, so too must we ensure that our tools and innovations serve Him and His kingdom.

Embracing Innovation with Faith

We are not to fear innovation but to embrace it with discernment. Technology, when used in accordance with God's will, becomes an instrument of peace, justice, and progress. As the Apostle Paul wrote:

"For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do." — Ephesians 2:10

AI, robotics, and other technological advancements can be directed toward the betterment of humanity. They provide us with new ways to educate, heal, and build communities. But we must always remember to place them under the lordship of Christ, ensuring that they reflect His teachings of love, compassion, and justice.

The Role of Technology in Advancing the Gospel

In today’s interconnected world, technology has become one of the most powerful tools for spreading the message of the gospel. Through it, we can reach the farthest corners of the globe with the teachings of Christ. As it says in Matthew 28:19-20:

“Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you.”

With technology, this mission is no longer limited by geography. Whether through online services, virtual Bible studies, or digital outreach, we are equipped with unprecedented means to fulfill the Great Commission.

Technology as Our Friend in Service

Let us also remember that technology, when used wisely, can serve the needs of our community. From organizing outreach programs to supporting education, technology can be a friend to the Church of Humanity Ascendant. It is a tool that enhances our ability to serve, allowing us to touch lives in ways previously unimaginable. St. John Paul II once said:

"Do not be afraid of technology; in the hands of those who know the ways of the Lord, it can be a friend, not a foe."

As we move forward, let us embrace these tools not as masters, but as friends—friends that allow us to live out our mission with greater purpose, clarity, and reach.

Conclusion: Christ First, Technology Second

While we marvel at the potential of technology, we must always remember that Christ is King, and He is the true source of our strength, wisdom, and progress. Technology is a means, but Christ is the end. In all that we do, let us put Him first, using the gifts of innovation to serve His will, spread His message, and reflect His love in every aspect of our lives.

May the grace of Christ our King guide us as we continue to advance, always faithful to His teachings and mindful of His divine purpose.

In His service,

The Church of Humanity Ascendant
